I got one of those cleaning shrimps (red and white) I thought they were getting along when I saw the star stick its lef out to touch the shrimp. Lights went out and when I woke up the next morning the shrimp was nowhere to be seen.
Well i did what I normally do, put the bag in the water, slowly start mixing water then throw him in, he looked fine. (shrimp) The star had been there for a while and he had been grabbing pieces of food, but wen he ate the shrimp i upgraded him to pieces of frozen shrimp.
I actually feed him frozen shrimp I buy at Publix, He is greedy he takes about three small pieces, he'll eat one and when I go to check on him he still has the other pieces hidden under him.
it also depends on the type of brittle star you have. usually green brittle stars are more likely to snatch you fish and shrimp than other types of brittle stars. also the greens gets pretty big.

It is likely the shrimp died from shock and the brittle ate him. I do not know how long you acclimated, but shrimp need at least an hour(2 hours being best) of being drip-acclimated.
