Whoa! How did those nasty little thingy got on your aqua pod by the way?
You'd better scoop them up and throw them back where they belong, that is if you don't want to keep any of them. Otherwise, they are a good sight at your aqua pod!
I'm assuming that things like this don't happen when you purchase an aquapod? Do you dive? Has this happened before...to anyone? Not necessarily jellyfish. But what else is possible to sneak in?
Did you recently put any live rock in the tank ? you can get all kinds of hitch-hickers off that .You would be amazed at what you can get off live rock . I've gotten crabs, star fish , brittle stars , snails , I've known people that have gotten pistol shrimp and 1 person that actually got a baby octopus . I heard of someone that even got a fish , but i can't confirm it that was true or not , didn't see it .
I can't say that this has ever happened to me but it really is fascinating! I actually love the idea of waking up and finding some kind of organism in my tank that wasn't there earlier, sounds like a wonderful surprise!
Depending on the type of Jellyfish it could be safe enough. Some are more aggresive than others and some simply arn't safe for a reef. It's rare to see a Jellyfish in a tank attack another fish, but it has happened.
I moved some corals to my 75g reef tank, now the jellys are having a party in a bigger tank. They have reproduced very quickly after putting the corals from the aquapod in it. I can remove with my net like 8-10 in 15 minutes.
The good news, one of my little fellas found a good snack out of them, my coral beauty loves to eat them! Now if you can see 1 jelly is very rare, he has the population in check.
Heh, that's good to hear. They have a use now and they're under control. It's actually a wonderful thing how some strange creatures appeared in your tank and are now providing food for your fish. One of natures beauties.
