| Sunlight On Tanks? I was wondering if anyone plans to have sunlight on their tanks?
My understanding is that too much could lead to algae problems. Is it best to avoid it altogether? |

| direct sunlight to your aquarium should be avoided ricardo, because it will grow a lot of green algae on your tank. |

| I think not all algae are bad but if you want to control the amount of algae, avoid direct sunlight on your aquarium. Algae always needs water and light. |

But it doesn't sound like a good idea, I guess. |

| Ricardo,
Mr. Reefer is absolutely right. Sunlight is condusive to algea growth. For best results keep tank indoors using artificial light to illuminate your display. |

| You're exactly right naldopr. UV sterilizers kill free-floating microorganisms like algae. That's best for your aquarium Ricardo. |

| My tank gets it sunlight from the ceiling light. I haven't had a problem with algae, just use some chemicals but be careful not to harm the fish |

| THE PROBLEM WITH SUN LIGHT IS THE LIGHT SPECTRUM IS GREAT FOR PLANTS AND ALGEA. NOT REEF AQUARIUMS.

| I hate to echo but I agree with the sentiments expressed here. Sunlight may look cool, but you will wind up with a big algae problem. You can create the sunlight look with the right lighting. |

| Sun light is really important for any live creature in this world. So Its necessary for fishes and plants also. So place your tank like that it can get sun light for little time if not more then that even. |
