plants in pond

I have a small pond and waterfall. My plants are overtaking the pond. They are tall plants with purple foliage. Is there any product that will kill some of the plants and not hurt my fish? The root system is very strong andf I am afraid of damaging the rubber lining by digging.

You can try the method used for controlling cattails and water lilies in large natural ponds. Do it very carefully, being sure that the spray is primarily just getting on the plant you want to kill and it should work.
