Uronema Marinum This tiny parasite is very difficult to combat if it goes unchecked for any length of time, because the infection can become systemic. Usually, it affects one or two fish, initially, but it spreads quickly. Uronema can be opportunistic and is sometimes found on dead fish, feeding upon the tissue and bacteria.
Some possible symptoms are the following:
• Pale patches with raised scales and hemorrhaging
• Scratching
• Turbidity of the skin
• Increased respiration rate
• Clamped fins
• Increased mucus production
• Lethargy
• Hanging near the surface
• Secondary bacterial infection in late stages
