Question What's next?

As I've mentioned, I have a maroon clownfish (I keep writing "betta") anemone but am having a terrible time thinking of what to put into the aquarium next. It's only 30 gallons, but there's plenty of light. Perhaps a hard coral? It's looking like tangs will be too big. There's so much to read about it, maybe some ideas would make it a bit easier to decide. Thanks.

Guppy when you say "it has plenty of light" what kind of light do you have ? Unless you have at least a T5 or better i would recomend any SPS corals ( small polop stony) or aka hard corals. Most if not all of them require VERY strong lighting , usually Metal Halides .I'm FAR from an expert but i had power compacts and VHO's and didn't have any luck with SPS at all . Im sure someone will chime in if I'm wrong on this one .

I agree with you redneck that LPS's generally don't require the lighting of most SPS's. So, Guppy, you could go with LPS hard corals with less light than the small polyp variety.
I have 2 x 250 metal halides on my 110g and that's pretty minimal. However I will be adding another 220w's of VHO's in the next month.

Bear in mind, besides lighting, all hard corals will need pristine water conditions, trace elements, magnesium, calcium, alk, etc to maintain healthy specimens. It can get costly on a larger tank, but the reward is awesome.

Merry Christmas! Tis the season to treat ourselves to something for our pretty little corner of the ocean. My son picked out the LPS Blue Brain. I think because of the name mostly... lol ...though we did try to understand the whole lighting needed and placement in the tank, etc., first.

Did any of you get a fish in your stocking this year? lol

I love it when they hide, I have since I was a kid! I'm not sure why, but during childhood moves I did the same so I guess it was a kid relation type deal. Give 'em a little bit and I'm sure all will be well.
