Being that lakes are freshwater that's hardly a solution. Take him back to the store you bought him from and let them find him a home. We at Aqua- holics try to make sure that we sell fish with the understanding of what the fish will require and the impact on the other inhabitants in the tank. Some fish are just plain tank busters and we don't carry them. I will not even special order a fish if the tank requirements are not met.
